The flagship model for AMG (mercedes) is a V12 twin turbo.

450kw, 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds, and it weighs 2.7 tonne.

Bentley is much the same...They have traction control etc....
On American Hot rod the other night they couldn't get the Merc to do a burnout!! Computer controlled ....

Is it just me, or have they reversed the pic there?? The SS badges seem to be the wrong way around??

I honestly would expect a little more than a 70 kw at the engine gain if I fitted a charger to something that already has the power. Its not like it's pumping next to no boost either. 7psi isn't exactly low for a +ve displacement (agreed it's not overly high either).

Looks like a subaru brumby. Not a great looking car at all.

That is ugly as sin!!!

Do a lot of people go for the supercharging option now because a lot of the kits, e.g. CAPA, are engineer approved and the cars they're fitted to are fully legal (in W.A. at least)? With one-off tt setups you would have to go through the whole engineering and emissions process, with the emission test being extremely costly. At least doing a one-off supercharger kit, if you get a defect notice, it's easy enough to unbolt the charger, put the standard gear back on and take it through the pits, then whack it all back on without too much of a headache.

The complete supercharger kits are generally cheaper than a turbo setup to.

CAPA offer their base kit for a BA XR8/GT from like $4K. It's easy to fit, doesn't require mods.

Try to buy two turbos for $4K, let alone manifolds and all the other pipe work.

I recommend turbo but be prepared to spend money to make it all realiable. Either way forced 8 is gonna cost dollars if you want it to last.

Plumbing isn't such an issue if you've got someone who knows what their doing, mine isn't crammed at all, very neat.

Don't have any alternator problems? Looks like it's in prime cooking position.

Fairly cheap setup you found there southy but unfortunately it takes a lot more to get it going properly.

For anyone considering going turbo on an 8 i'd think about those parts on ebay as the fabrication of the manifold has already been done as well as the exhaust side of things.....the custom manifolds can cost a good bulk of that total price of all those parts

Haven't taken it down the 1/4 yet, will hopefully soon though.

Dyno it made 250rwkw under 5 grand with a conservative tune (fuel rich) so it didn't blow anything up, graph was still climbing. Its going back for some more tuning, lean it out a bit and get a couple of other things looked at but it would be nothing for it to make nearly 300rwkw on 8.5psi, only thing letting it down is the bottom end but that will be looked at in the next 6-12 months hopefully
