I think you will find a supercharger is a better option and more easily available.

Well there are arguments against that, but either way that doesnt answer my question, is there any reason for for not having factory XR8t's |

A turbo 5.4 would make too much power / torque...
But a turbo V8 sounds like a good idea....

You can have too much torque? there seems to be some unwritten law that car manufactures only bump up their power by 5-15kw each time a new model comes out. Reching the limits of their power output would mean little to play with in future models. It is possible to turbo a BA xr8 like people i've seen have but they usually have the turbo mounted down below everything out of sight to fit it. I'm sure the same could be done for an AU. Installation ease and cost is a likely reason for why a supercharger is preferred over a turbo.

There's a twin turbo GT around, was on display at Summernats. And plenty of others have turbo'd V8's in E-series and newer. And I know of and ridden in a particular 351 turbo powered ZL fairlane.

That's more of a Holden/HSV thing, FPV haven't really done much in the way of boosting power over their range. Something to do with resale and not making the car owner feel like they've been jipped by the company they bought it off a year ago IIRC

Chceck out turbomustangs.com and head over to the forums section. Theres plenty of people floating about who have turbo'd their fords, but they seem to have a little more underbonnet clearance!

Yes it is one ugly car. I used to raz my mate with his VX ute telling him the all in one panel made it look like an overgrown Subaru Brumby on steroids. I had to take that back when I saw the pics of the newie it looks more like a Suzuki mighty boy on steroids. It's built on a sedan platform with a shorter than before wheel baseand looks like the cut a sedan into a ute. thank god I own a real ute I'll keep my old ford thanks. |
