hi guys,
i have the header plates and turbo flanges, now i have some gueries about what size primary pipes to use? and what thickness mild steel. (for 5 litre windsor)... cheers!!

1 1/2"- 1 3/4" would be fine 1 3/4 would be i deal though, depends if you are doing them in a log style or tuned length too. Bit hard with 1 3/4" for tuned length..
Steam pipe bends and pipe would be fine, 3-4 mm wall is fine, give the joins a reasonable prep when welding too. Also a brace along the exhaust manifold flange while welding will help reduce distortion too, an Old E7 head would be perfect. Just bolt on the manifold to the head and weld away, if you can find an old head..

excellent! cheers mate luckily i have the e7's kickin around off the engine i stripped.. btw, where can i get steam pipe bends from?? being a little town with one exhaust shop, and a big fat c**t running it, i'll most likely have to order it over the net....if indeed someone sells them...

Any steel supplies joint.
Midalia, One steel, smorgan, etc ,etc I wouldnt go to an exhaust shop, they charge an arm and a leg, then take a part torso too.

i would go 1-1/4, for high hp like 600+rwhp i would go 1-1/2.
any bigger that 1-1/2 is a waste of space

GOOD LUCK getting steam pipe and welds inside manifold bolts...
I have 1 1/2 and over 700 h.p at the engine.. They all use flipped std manifolds on Mustangs and most are modified [as in fitting 1 5/8 shorties] before turbo fitted.. 1 5/8 would do fine, you'll have to square off at flange to clear bolts.. Btw at 16 Lb boost I have 2 to1 back pressure which is quite o/k.. 15 Lb boost and 28 Lb back pressure... Mine are unequial length ceramic coated .. to 2" pipe before T3 flange.. Here's a pic of one side..

i'll have to look into it tomorrow. i can get them welded up for free through a mate, so rather than hack apart some perfectly good extractors, i thought i may aswell give making some ago...

they look like mustang manifolds. does say they would fit upto AU's, but i doubt it with large turbos...

Other side.. Depending on intercooler design, you need this 2" crossover pipe for cold side of turbo... Another angle.. I moved compressor over to idler pulley to allow clearance on left side... Note crank sensor on front pulley.. It jsu made it through garage / patio door !! The oil return pipes are stainless flex , no chance of buring them...

thats awesome mate! did you have any issue's with power steering pump or alt? and i dont spose you have anymore pics?? as i dont have an engine bay to work from, getting these manifolds correct may be tricky.
i've got some old e7 heads propped up to the right angle. i'm going to see how that turns out! with alt and pwr steering pump on there as well. thanks for your help, its always extremely useful!

Its much easier to run a SINGLE turbo..
Then there's no issues with air con, compressor... The alterrnalor is the original, had no issues.. Being ceramic coated keeps much of the heat in.. Its the compressor that is close to power steering pump and alternator... Used braded steel hose for low pressure return on power steering ... I fitted insulation over collector on manifold where most the heat is..
