G'day everyone.
I am researching which forced induction system would be better for a 351ci V8 for a project at school. I need information about the costs of each system and the installation, disadvantages, advantages, reliability and anything else that could help like stuff you need to do eg. more fuel for more air and other components you would need etc just chuck anything you think would be helpful. Cheers Greg Foord |

have a look at site sponsors to see what comes in a kit, that will give you more insight as to what you actually need, without being rude, are you asking us to do your homework for you?

Theres no disadvantage to going turbo on a 351...

Maybe not, but a 351 with a 671 hanging off it looks a whole lot better. [Old school] Regards TPVM.

turbo
disadvantage - costly, more work, and harder to tune advantage - looks trick high tech, more boost from twin setup, something different SC disadvantage - nothing really except SC do suck a bit of power to run, and dime a dozen advantage - POWER, cheaper. (even cheaper if you centrifugal) so really the real differnence is that turbo's are more expensive and trickier to set-up, and , depending on what you want with the car, may be a better "project" giving the relative uniqueness. hope this points you. |

Most of what you said is misinformation, why would two turbo's make more boost over one??
If hes building it the manifolds shouldnt cost much, yeah takes abit longer tho its not tricky to do. You know what OP if your serious about doing this get in contact with a workshop who can help with ideas and information as what you will get off here is more misinformation and a dreamers perspective. |

not trying to sound rude or snappy, but whats wrong with him asking here? it's not like he's asking the members on here to do the research for him.. whats the difference between him calling up a workshop and asking these questions and him asking the members on here the questions? nothing.. he's just asking for opinions, and pro's/con's or turbocharging/supercharging!

Theres a mob in NZ who turbocharged a 302??
all i can say from watching the youtube post is that its OFF THE FKN CHAIN! but the whine of a supercharger gets me every time... (im a sucker for screamers ) |

Until recently I would have preferred a supercharger on a V8. I know it takes power from the crank to run but the instant response in power and torque is what I have always desired from a power adder. Plus the whine of a Kenne Bell is almost pure music to my ears
However, I have seen what a: 1) well designed and: 2) well thought out turbo setup on a V8 can do if: 3) properly tuned. The turbo lag I always disliked can now be brought down to a far more imperceptible amount provided the three points above mesh together extremely well. Plus the fact that the turbo is essentially free power and not robbing power to generate power like the supercharger. With a supercharger, it requires possibly less fabrication to mount than a turbo and its associated intake piping so perhaps less man hours to put together overall. ( Not including intercooler of course ) This of course is dependent on what sort of SC or turbo design you decide to follow - its just my own general view.
