I noticed a slight reduction in power steering but I actually preferred it that way. SSS should be fine with it, it would just become slightly tougher mainly at lower rpm. |

Would i keep my stock belt which is quite new or should I get the one that BPT offers for $65?

You keep your orig belt.
Ihave the full chrome set with chrome idlers and tension pulley - it makes for alot better reving if your going hard. Noticable from 2k onwards personally and find the only issue that would arise is battery if you have a s**t. I had a decent battery that was getting on in its life and this was enough to put it to rest n get a GOOD cranking battery to keep charge up constantly. This helped all electrics tho, even if i didnt have the pulleys, so id recommend them for sure. I too would like to know new or recon alternator price as i cant get my pulley off, rattle guns wont do mine!

Last time I checked a recon 5L alternator was around $250. But I am amazed the rattle gun won't get your pulley off, mine took a while just sitting on there but it did come off eventually. I know some people put a piece of metal through the front bent holds which wedges in the blade's in the front of the alternator and then rattle the bolt off.
The race kits use your own belt but the street kits come with a new shorter belt. |

What about the flat idler's?
Mine look a little worn, not sure if they come with either package, would I replace them with just standard new ones or better one's needed you think?

The idlers don't generally need replacing unless the bearings go and they become noisy, and thats not too common. You can just grab some new ones from ford if needed, there use to be some billet alloy ones available on here but haven't seen them in a while.

I have tried every rattle gun i can get my hands on and even a full on heavy duty one made to remove ANY part off a truck - all it does is chip away the nut on the end, the small ones and large ones.. guess may have to buy a anew alt.

It depends on the quality of the gun. The other way to do it is lock the shaft in a vice and do it that way.. The way my sparky did it.
I have some some pics of the chrome pulleys if you wanna have a gander.

im using BPT street ones, i bought them just before the race ones came out too.
i find the street ones gave me more go and for the money and the power you get out of them they are good, but no major problems with them i don't think, i got about a 5 RWKW gain out of mine (in a 4 speed auto) i dyno'd before and after, and from memory torque went up a fair amount to, and i did feel a difference it did rev more after i put them on, and fuel consumption went down to which is always good
