Hiya FPV
There's a place based in Adelaide that sells new radiators on ebay. Ive been in touch with him about replacing the one i fu... broke.. on the weekend. He quoted me heavy duty 3 core for $320 (+$5 handling) with free shipping in Australia (except tas) to suit my 5.0L. Maybe worth getting in touch and letting him know what you're looking for. ebay items: http://search.ebay.com.au/_W0QQgotopage ... propertyZ1 email: hacrad8@bigpond.com.au Cheers Martin H

PWR makes all/most of the V8 Supercar radiators
Do the search... http://www.pwr.com.au/pwr/main/ definately have aluminium radiators available for all falcons |

I have a alloy radiator for my 347 made locally in perth and works a treat, never goes over A in normal on my Ef temp gauge. I think there is a place that advertises in street machine that does them , i think they call themselves dessert coolers or something along those lines.

I think alloy radiators are overkill for most situations and they normally cost a fortune for a decent one. A decent 3 or 4 core radiator will keep any engine cool, I run a 4 core in mine and the temp stays nice and cool even on hot days with A/C on. Problem with the EF/EL is that the thermo fans are made for a 2 core radiator, if you do fit a 3 or 4 core one you will normally need to modify the fan shroud.

What the advantage of an alloy radiator over the copper ones?

Lighter and disperses heat better. $850 is a lot of money for a radiator. My 4 core copper radiator cost me about $250 and that keeps the supercharged engine nice and cold, an alloy would be nice but I can't justify outlaying that sort of money unless it is really needed. |

Yeah lighter, better heat transfer. Also a thinner metal I believe which means more room inside actual tubing and more flow. $850 is a LOT for a radiator - must be pretty serious business.

I did a little bit of thermodynamics back at school and I was led to believe that Copper had better thermal conductivity than aluminium. However, these rads are usually copper/brass and aluminium has better conductivty than brass so that would even it up. There must be a reason why aluminium radiators are more effective (besides their weight) and not the relative thermal conductivities of the two materials..
How many cores does the new aluminium radiatior have FPV56L?

Thinner metal means tubes can be made wider than copper/brass tubes. Therefore greater surface area and obviously more effective heat transfer.

mate try natrad or superior radiators (same place) in moorebank, they will set you straight with a good price and good service, they do in house custom aluminium rads or can supply you with a 3 row, or 2 row heavy duty for around $319 inc. brand new, no exchange.

Alloy heads I prefere alloy radiator..The rad guy I went to said the 2 core alloy is closs to 4 core copper...So I went 4 core alloy...No fuggen over heating for me..Nothing stuffs a good engine more..Other than No oil....
