Hi guys,
I am about to pull my v8 engine since I built it as I am putting some more fruit in it. At the same time my BTR had enough of the increased output over stock and chucked the front band. Firstly some specs: 302 Windsor EFI. GT40P heads, Explorer intake with 0.5 spacer, EGR delete, AU XR8 throttle body, AU XR8 maf (with e-series sensor), 19lb injectors, custom equal length extractors, 2x2.5 inch manta exhaust, 1.72 Yella Terra roller rockers, Rollmaster double roller chain. Stock BTR trans and 3.23 LSD gears. What I am adding: 2031 Crane Powermax (compucam), crane lifters, Ti performance chip (for the new combo), 24lb injectors flow matched and most likely (the one thing I haven't purchased yet) An underdrive pulley kit 25%. What I am trying to figure out is what type of stall I need. There are some taipan toque converters out there that sound good specs wise, but I am not sure how good they are. They have 2200 2500 and 2700 rpm stall. Odd, cause generally stall converters have a small range such as 2000-2200 and 3000-3300 etc The cam has a cruise speed of 2400-2800 rpm and they recommend a 'mild' stall converter. The RPM range is 1400 to 6000. I have heard guys run it with the stock converter, although I cannot confirm what stall speed they have. What I am trying to achieve is a stall that brings me up to the power curve quickly (or close to) but still has lockup so I can still do highway k's. Happy to change diff gears if needed, I can get my hands on a set of 3.5's. Sorry - a lot of text, but I wanted to be thorough. I hope someone can shed some light for me/give me some recommendations. I have never driven a car with stall, so I would not even know what the car would respond like. Cheers |

Dominator have high stalls that retain the factory lock up. They also have a service where you punch in all your cars specs on their website, and they give you a recommendation of what stall to run I believe.
