Yep that's a piece-o-piss. A 3V is probably a better idea though more low end torque to shove it along. In fact I wish my super pursuit had a 3V!
You could get away with the stock diff for the time being. You'll need a donor V8 car to make it easy for the conversion though. |

Nope.
The 3v 220 is a 3 valve per cylinder single overhead cam motor found in the BA XT's and Fairlane G220. The Boss motors are a quad cam 4 valve per cylinder motor. Both are 5.4 litres.

That will teach you for leaving this thread open Now you can't even spin her some crap that the old engine is RS and it is cheaper to do this.

Just had a look at that Fairmont, I reckon you would be better off waiting for a Ghia V8, then swap the whole interior as well, not sure about the rear seat but the rest should fit.

i think the rear seat inards are the same or similar and can just be recovered in the ghia trim.
looked at upgrading my futura wagon a while back for similar reasons to ashcook. i like/need a wagon but have the urge to spec it up a bit every now and then.

This is something that I considered a couple of years back just before we bought a XR8. I was going to get a cheap wagon from the auctions and a wrecked 3V donor car. I don't believe you will need a engineer's cert though. Should be a routine job infact.
