haha, i know, keen as mustard!!! thanks for the hot tip, gave you a referral too.
Looks like i might be able to get away with a new maf and 24lb injectors for $250 odd bucks. That website is a goldmine for parts |

Shh compare $$$ to here is unbelievable...
Just spend another $50 or so on checking flow rates etc here ..

i also had PV issues when i put a 2030 in my ed xr8. The stock pistons on earlier model are different than later models. I heard a story that they changed pistons in ef's but that could just be a story....
I ended up changing pistons with more compression ... |

What heads ??? Yes EF went to lighter pistons, not nessessary better though .....Milling heads tightens p/v clearance also..

I'm hoping for the valve reliefs to be lasrge in the EL....haven't found anyone that has really gone down this path with an EL who has said anything about it.
How much did you pay for different pistons? |

I am running GT40P's ex TE50 have larger valves, crane 2031, YT1.7 RR's, 24lb inj, adj fuel reg, higher volume fuel pump, Edlebrock Performer 5.0 manifold, 70mm BBK TB, 75mm Pro-M MAF, 3.7 diff, Thermo fans and underspeed pulleys.
Pistons are ACL race series which have a a fairly large relief already cut in. No P/V issues, but you MUST check. If heads are off TE50 they came with 1.7 RR - lose the valve springs as they are rubbish. Ended up using double Comp Springs. Car is Auto. Runs okay but am tuning with Tweecer. Richie.

Interesting that you have a higher volume fuel pump - was this due to the stock pump maxing out? Have you got any power figures from your setup?
If I get 24lb injectors, it looks like the stock fuel pressure will be too low @36psi, therefore i need a fuel pressure regulator....found this one on ebay, will this do the job,or does it depend on what the increase in pressure it is capable of? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Adjustable-Fuel- ... dZViewItem Also now looking into notching the pistons so I can use the Trickflow Track Heat I cam so theres definately no P/V issues....another question is will standard EEC cope with notching the pistons? |

Didnt want to wait to see if stock pump could hack it - I suspected not. I got a billet Kirban adj reg. Bolts straight into where stock reg does. I think with others there can be a nightmare with the plumbing.
Speak to Grant EDXR8 or Pete XR9UTE about EEC but unless MAF calibrated to your injectors you may have issues. Also may be issues with ISC idle drive airflows for idle. Hence I am using Tweecer. First attempt was 230rwhp - had to do runs in limp home mode due to screwy readings from 3.7 diff. Will have better idea of numbers once I sort out MAF table and timing. Should be looking at 250 -260. Also using pacemaker ph4000 headers. Richie.

In the last 72 hours i've soaked up so much information its not funny.
I too have pacemaker PH4000's, twin 2 1/2" into single 2 1/2". What did the fuel reg cost you, and I like the sound of just replacing the existing one and not mucking around with plumbing. Don't want to do EEC mods cause it doesn't fit into the budget for the time being, hence getting a calibrated maf to injectors. Also what can be done about ISC airflows? Is AU XR bigger or even compatible. Haven't heard that this will pose any problems before...has anyone else had problems with this? Cheers |

Get your self a 3 bolt Kirban fuel reg, may find one on corral, mine cost 120 aus and bolted into the factory position. Very much worth it. I also have a 75mm Granatelli MAF for sale, but am keeping the 24lbs that go with it for now, at least until the new motor arrives
Brett.

Sounds like Kirban is recommended.....back to corral for more parts
Thanks guys |

Thanks a lot rbrtuomr for all your help - very informative!!! Nearly everything is ready to go.
But now its crunch time, time to decide on cam as I need to make a decision. Trickflow TrackHeat I vs. Crane 2031 I need to make a quick decision - I can get the TFSI straight away, but the 2031 I haven't seen anyone selling a new one, which means I may have to pay retail. What would you do? |

Dont stress over the decision between TFS1 vs 2031. They are both good cams, and the difference would be marginal....having said that, id go for the TFS1 without a second thought
I've got a spare 3-bolt kirban, 2" FP guage, and guage fitting (for fuel rail) if you are interested...PM me. |

Re-reading the info about PV clearance for you guys running the TE50 style GT40P's, it sounds like your larger valves are a definite issue when wanting to install any of the three aforementioned cams. However, I was told by the guy I bought my GT40P's off that they came out of an AU XR8 so does that mean my valves are the smaller standard size and that I might not have that piston to valve clearance problem if installing either the 2030, 2031 or TFS1 like you guys? It would be good to know if I can just slip in one of these cams and have no hassles with clearance of any kind at all with my GT40P's.
