Hi anyone
Does anyone know about fitting a 5 litre fuel injected motor out of an EF into a EB 6 cylinder in regards to the wiring can it be done ? |

Sure it can be done. Just run the whole wiring harness and ecu from the v8 and should be alrite.

it can be done if you swap the wiring loom from the v8 ef into the eb 6 cyl, im not sure how much of the wiring needs to bne swapped weather its just the ecu to engine bay or weather its everything

AS your doing an EB, you also need to either swap the entire EF K-Frame, steering, and suspension attached to k-frame in, or source an EB K-Frame for a V8. in the EB/D, the 6 and 8's have different K-Frames. in the EF, they are the same.
Im hoping to do this same swap over the xmas break. Nigel |

If you have the whole car you have a couple of easy options.
1. Thought of transferring the whole EF into the EB? - wiring harness and all, just leave out the Airbox ECU (or put it in, but its not needed) - and get an XH non-airbox horn pad (I have one or two of them here). 2. You wont need the entire Harness, but you will need the ECU one, and the Transmission one. You should be able to use the EB ECU power and Fuel relays with the EEC out of the V8. You'll perhaps need to source trans computer power, but the rest will be mostly plug and pray. You'll be able to keep the EF Fan control circuits as well. You'll need to put an EB series Engine Temp sensor in the engine (Theres a place for it to be put in) - the EF uses the ECU temp sensor. EB uses its own one. If you have climate control you'll also need the climate temp sensor The EGR Solenoid might have to be moved - The EF Solenoid sits under the Washer bottle. On an EB this is the Cruise control Pump/Servo. You can either use an EB EGR solenoid, or use the EF Cruise control if that matters (A little more custom work). Airbox is different, Fuel lines are a little different but not enough that you cant just use longer fuel hoses. And there are small differences depending on which Radiator you use (EB or EF) Nigel |

it would be a lot easier to bring the whole ef wiring( and dash) over.I'm in the middle of doing a complete ef fairmont conversion with a ef 5.0l on my EB . also doing the front end(panels) as well

Hey Phil. Im not sure it would be easier... there are a few tricks that make it easy both ways.
1. Not all people love the ef dash. I do like the EB one.. 2. Additional Holes needed for EF/EL Wiring 3. ECU Wiring isnt actually real hard. But its also very much each to their own. I did actually look at the idea of using the EF Dash and chased a fairmont dash harness. But Im also having to go to the extent of the K Frame swap as well - as Ive just re-co'ed my EF Steering rack. Also for me - I just picked up a set of EL GT Headers. yay. |

I'm the same, like the look of the eb dash.i was just going to dump the 5.0l in but got the fairmont (write off hit in the rear) and figured what the hell, do the lot

Philbie -> Let me know if you change your mine - My Recipient car is an EB Ghia so im still half way there...
Russell. I'll see how many I have. I need to keep one for my XF (it has an EF Column in it... at the moment - but it has a XH Boss kit, and an EB woodgrain momo on it for now...) Nigel |

While I remember - The one issue with complete wiring harness changeover is that your not really going to change the EB/ED ABS over to EF ABS (although, I am tempted.... is it all in the same place??) - so You'll need to make a stand-alone EB/D harness for the ABS if you do the EF Complete swap. Barnacus has done that though.... so it can be done.

I'm puttin ef one in as the eb is only a gli and didn't have it.
russell...the ef radiator isn't as tall as the eb one, it will fit but it won't be in the slots at the bottom |

Thanks guys I thought of lifting the whole front end out of the EF and using it before your suggestions anyway ill just have to get set of lowered v8 springs as the EB is lowered now. in regards to the wiring i will pull the dash out the EF and take it from there, I too like the EB dash
