i havn't seen the Fairlane yet so i cant tell you how bad it is....
I didn't realise the interior would go into my car, that is also something to deffinately consider. So if i was to use the V8 from it i would have to get an EB wiring loom? Unless i swap dashes etc? then i could use the Fairlanes? I'm getting excited just thinking about it lol. What diff & tailshaft would you use??

get an EB or ED crossmember and the EB V8 wiring loom
f**k do it man. put aside about $500 for an engineers certificate. put a 3.7 LSD and an XR or GT tailshaft and yer laughin... if the gearbox is stuffed get one from EB to AU (AU needs bellhousing change but thats 2 second job) 6's are only quicker than 8s if they are worked or a higher diff is put on or if its got quad cams and twin turbos..the falcon 4.0 is awesome but if you're getting a V8 for free whack it in the EA, it'll add more "i did this to my car" appeal....

Use the Fairlane EEC,harness, gearbox and K-member and leave the 302 behind.
Put a 351 in it. Sixes are quicker?? BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRR HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR HA HA HA HA HA HARRRR! Seriously though it may be easier for you to use an EB-ED V8 EECIV and harness rather than the EECV setup from the NF. If you use the NF setup you'd waste a lot of time splicing it into part of the EA harness or adapting the whole NF harness into the EA. Your original EA EEC harness can also be modified to suit a V8 but unless you are competent in harness building you should stay away from that. I assumed you are using the BTR auto? maybe you should take this oportunity to switch to manual at the same time? Pete. |

I am currently running a T5 Manual behind the 6MPFI.
Someone told me i would have to get a V8 T5 though because the imput shafts differ? But yeh it certainly sounds like the EB-ED V8 wiring loom is the way to go cheers. Did the EB V8's come out without smartlock? Cause i can see there being a prob if all the V8 computers have it

Input shaft is not the only thing that differs....V8 T5's are much stronger internally too.
EB 1's were available without smartlock. I think Ive got a coupla non-smartlock EEC's that I could sell plus I can turn off smartlock with TwEECer on EEC's that have it. Pete. |

Q: for the people saying put a 351W in it. I've heard that if you car was injected to begin with that you cannot convert back to carby? If you got a 351W would you just run the 302W injection on it? is this possible what would you do

yep,im pretty sure that sounds right... that if u have a motor vehicle with efi from the factory stock then whatever combo you choose to do has to be efi for it to be street registerable.. in nsw anyway.. not too sure bout other states... but i presume they would be similair...

True, I was thinking that EA GL's came out with CFI. I wonder if they would class that as carby, prob not but i think it'll be worth asking about.
Carby would look really good for the old school appeal, and the ease of working on. Although injection gives more power. I dunno too many choices too soon. lol

I dunno too many choices too soon. lol Afraid not, it's still injected, and besides that you have to meet the emission requirments of that year regardless. Your only options are injected, or straight LPG. |

Straight LPG might be a move to think about it.
Enables you to piss of the petrol tank and maybe go dual pipes all the way as well
