Hi I have a 5.0 v8 from a 2000 falcon single cam two valve per cylinder. I have converted it to carburettor and distributor. For a different car also has a 5 speed. I now appear to have the belt squeal even without the belt. Other post say cam sensor, but I do not have one just the dissy. I loosend the crank pully and lubricated it as it sounded like a dry seal. anyway I still have the squeal. Any ideas?

One way to determine if the noise is coming from the timing belt or accessory drive belt is to remove the belts and start the engine. If the noise goes away, then it's likely that one of the belts is causing the issue. You can then inspect the belts for any signs of wear or damage, and replace them.

Have you used the correct steel or polymer gear and set the height properly on the new distributor?
