If the whining is coming for the ECU it's probably a capacitor that's gone bad. I would try another ECU to see whether that sorts the problem out. Then either open it up and replace the capacitor or grab a new ECU.

EF-AU V8 gearboxes were all BTR97LE, and are INCOMPATIBLE. Change this before you do anything else

i am begining to think this is electrical i was under my car yesterday and i looked at the connections under the box an all was good in terms of no extra wires in the plug or missing ones howerver i did find that one of the wires were a bit bare so i fixed that changed my -battery earth
what i forgot to mention that two days i was driving and i flashed a truck in and i lost all my electrics briefly then was ok again but since i fixed the wire and as soon as i left the driveway i lost my powr and electrics its like it wanted to die but came good and then when i went to turn a corner it did it again HELP is it realy my box doin that ? i thought if that they were that different it wouldnt work at all anyway can anyone shed some light |

No one told the EB 95LE in my XG that it had an AU EEC controlling it and it worked perfectly. Plus I've set up plenty of E-series cars with AU boxes with no problems. Where's the incompatibilty?

Only difference is the lack of a dipstick in EF onwards ones.

The transmission specialists all say the solenoid switching is reversed in BTR95LE v's BTR97LE ie. 12V = apply v's 12V = release. Seems a common response from several specialists, so it's unlikely to be hearsay. I have been told this several times over a number of years.
I need to switch out the BTR95LE in my test bed to do an EF wiring job, so I'll try running the BTR97LE with the BTR95LE controller when I next run up an earlier EEC4 wiring job. It would be nice if they do interchange as I have a number of '97's (one from a 1995 EF has a dipstick, and a 1996 NF also had one) that I had relegated to parts-donor status

torque convertors are also different between the 95le and 97le trans.

I was under the impression the 95LE was the 6 box, and the 97LE was for the 8.
But hey, Maybe i am wrong, its been know to happen before. Brett

No not yet. 3 specialists have said this to me, two more than once over a few years. I know them all personally, they wouldn't intentionally mislead me. Then there are several people who have tried the swap & failed, only to then install the correct transmission and run properly But you have floated the idea and I'm keen to investigate & confirm.... I have the opportunity in the next 6 weeks with minimal effort since the test bed transmission swap has to be done anyway (or does it??? the swap should work both ways??? so long as I run the BTR97LE tcm the transmission choice should be irrelevant - right?). The proof for me will be in normal transmission operation without fault codes (which incidentally I would be very happy with)
