Hey guys.
I have a NC V8, full NF interior conversion including ECU and all wiring. My mate might be getting a EF XR6 for some parts and does not want the Manual stuff. So i would be able to get my hands on a T5, Pedal Box, clutch and cable etc? I know how to change over a L6 but not a V8. Do i have to get a manual ECU or can i just disconnect the TCM. If i have to get a manual ecu is there ways to use the auto one like you can with the 6 ( modify loom ect). will a Xr6 t5 bolt to the 302 with out any other mods? any help would be great im blind in this area |

V8 T5 is different to the 6 Cylinder and will not fit. The auto is controlled by a stand alone unit, so no resistor trick is required.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong... |

Also from what i have read i think the dash has to come out for you to fit the manual pedal box (please if i am wrong i apologise in advance).
A MW (Mal Wood) manual pedal attachment is probably an easier way to go. Also you may want to strengthen/re-enforce the firewall part where the clutch cable goes through (apparently these tend to get weak or something due to a lot of pressing of the pedal). |

dont bother, input shaft on the box is different length, bellhousing is different, flywheel and clutch is different, clutch cable is different..
the only direct usable part is the pedal box.. |

can be done, BUT you will need to buy a custom bell house, flywheel and clutch etc.

What do I need from the V8 to go with the conversion as I have to remove it myself. I'm thinking motor n box, engine/gearbox and ecu looms, ecu, K frame, exhaust and other things like map, intake. Another issue is the V8 is auto and i would prefer manual. I recently done a manual conversion on the 6 and have a couple spare T5s so I was thinking of using one and putting 5L input shaft in and using a manual V8 bell housing. Iv read a bit about it but haven't seen anything solid about it. Any one tried or have a solution other than finding a 5L manual box.

Good luck finding a V8 manual conversion laying around. I know of 1, and it isn't forsale. When they are available, they command big dollars.

That's why I'd like to know if there's another way of doing it.
