I am just a bit curious. searched but no info I can find. what does a EF EL 4.9 V8 weigh. What does a 4l EF EL 6 cylinder weigh? One more, if the difference is substantial, is there any benefit in going V8 for 8 or so kws. Please enter the weight question first if you can.

Are you talking just the engine or the whole car?

Ford motorsport list the shipping weight of a complete 5.0 long engine, with alloy heads, but no inlet manifold, etc, at approx 425lbs (2.2lbs per kg = 194kg)
No idea on the I6, but it would have to be close to that.

A bare long I6 weighs about 175kg.
I think its about 220ish with manifolds and ancillaries. V8's are about 40kg more than that. Our 8's have iron heads, not alloy, so be a bit heavier. |

And alloy heads on the V8 saves about 25kg over iron heads
