im got my 5l heads in getting cleaned up and the bloke wants too shave 15 tho off em to tidy them up wicth is cool its gettin done but i need too no wicth is the best way to slacken valvetrain preload too allow for this i dont want ajustable roller rockers...?

genrally preload is around 20 thou but the lifters can accomodate up to 60 thou. If your valve train now is a tiny bit on the ticking side I wouldn't worry about it but if it's not and you are worried it is an acceptable practice to shim the pedastal so get a ten to fifteen thou washer and bolt the rockers down on to that. I run a washer under my adjustable yella terras to keep the same aspect ratio and so as not to load up the rollers. Remember rolers arent tensioned much at all.

If it was noisy before ? Then .020 isn't going to make it worse , better if anything???
Though EACH lifter should be prepared individually...
