Both the FG and VE are seriously detuned at the factory, as per tradition and a proper tune can unlock a good deal of power.

F6 will do it for less dollars, GT will need more dollars.
All the workshops down here are quoting 300+ for LS3s with exhaust/extractors/OTR and tune.

I do have a magazine with a BA XR6T with just a Capa flash tune and it gained 45rwkw but they must of up the boost a fair bit id guess

there is alot more displacement in that motor as well, 6.2 vs 5.4
a boss with those simple mods would struggle to get close to 280rwkw... but... if you spend around 4k on an xr6t/typhoon, your looking at 350 rwkw and a mountain of torque

50kw with a tune? wow. they lift the limiter or something? fair enough you can advance the spark (and cam timing if that motor has it???) etc but thats huge

Like Steady said, F6 and a XR6T will do it for less .
$2500 will get you 50 to 70 rwkw in the right turbo motor. It's amazing what these engines (as in modern engines) can achieve when you neglect worrying about emissions, warranty, durability and public perception. Don't forget intake temps mean squat. Dyno's will provide mathamatical corrections to the power figure based on the temp. Providing the operator has put the temp probe in the right spot. |

Well, when you dont care about those sorts of things, then don't be surprised at the numbers some of these engines make. You could consider this a normal everyday thing.
As Vic said, they are very well detuned from the factory, mainly because of emissions and durability. |

I should have said public perception of the manufacturer, not of those who buy and drive the things. Vic would be the only one in this thread who would remember the "Horsepower Scare" of the 70's that killed off these types of cars. |

should piss in a low 12, i'm not 100% on what VEs are running though.
I think the VZ 6Ls are doing about 270-280 with the same mods? mid to high 12 maybe?
