I've got a fairly cheap one(bout $40) that my mates tried to destroy by using it without having taken the washer out from the balancer and it works fine.
It's a good idea to change the seal but in either case make sure you lube the balancer snout and the seal itself so it doesn't destroy itself when you start it up. Unless you have a tool to fit the seal with the timing cover on the engine it's going to be fun getting it to go on straight.

Oh no!!!

Drama's already :(

I'd prefer to change the Front Main Seal.

But i guess if its going to be a ball breaker then....

Ill check it out in more detail tomorrow.

thx

Ross is the company that makes the Powerbonds.

1. Precision Engineering (owned by the Exclusive Brethren (cult) Church) make the PowerBond's.
They also used to make OEM Falcon water pumps, up till the late 90's.

2. Are they GOOD vibrations?

Not particularly.

Kind of getting really annoyed with them at the moment.

trying to enjoy the smoothness of the Lane can be quite difficult especially between the rev range of around 1000 - 1500 or so.

thx

So did you inspect the harmo and find it to be faulty or did you just buy one?

No.. Not really.

I checked the rear trans mount & that is OK.

I also checked the 2 engine mounts & they seem OK too.

A couple of forum members highly suspect the HB to be at fault for some reason or other.

I tend to agree with them.

Is there a way one can test the HB to see if its faulty?

thx

check your harmonic balancer visually for cracks
with a mirror if you have to ,also check the outer of the hb hasnt broken its bond ,
as the pulley can shimmy back and forward under load . a ruler check or visual belt check the pullies line up.
belt off get a long breaker bar on the bolt on the ground side of where it has to spin ,hands clear incase you get it wrong ..crank engine on off once .
a large three jaw puller, flip the jaws round so its wide a slim
you may have to remove the radiator and protect the ac cooler with a board
getting new one on you have to stop the engine from spinning somhow .by jamming the ring gear in an auto i think
