Im tossing up between running a bottle of water wetter and distilled water in my eb or i also have ford coolant, which i would also mix with distilled water.
I havent used water wetter before and just wanted a few opinions. What ratio do you guys mix your ford coolant?

Hey mate, I highly recommend Water Wetter. It's not worth using 'coolant' unless you live somewhere that the water is likely to freeze over night.
Water Wetter will keep your car cooler, especially if only used with distiled water (no glycol) If you want a more indepth explination call Tim Slako at West Racing, he's a Redline supplier and knows all the technical data on all the products. He also uses only Redline products on all the monsters that pass through his workshop. Cheers, MaTTe |

You CAN add coolant, but it will just reduce the effeciency of the Water Wetter, and the ONLY benefit you'll get from adding 'coolant' is the antifreeze properties. Water wetter has the rust and corrosion inhibitor of coolant, but doesn't have the glycol (which is the worlds best antifreeze)
Get yourself 15L of distilled water from Coventrys, it comes in a goon bag.. costs about $5. you can flush the whole system a couple of times if you buy 2 goon bags |

If using wetter - just check to see what it can do to a aluminium radiator.
Richie.

i use redline water wetter mixed into rain water in my 67 xr 351, runs around 15 degrees cooler than without. it wont affect aluminium, otherwise you would have problems with thermostat housings, intake manifolds and waterpumps too.

I ran the water wetter and found it made no noticeable difference to the temp in my eb except it was a little higher than usual, i put it down to the fact that my cooling system is already ok and didnt need improvement.
I have dropped the water wetter and im now running ford coolant with no side effects. I do like to try different things although, my windsor is very sensitive to change and some things dont work so well. Live and learn. Thanks for the replies

did you flush all the coolant out of the block before putting the water wetter in? you'd be surprised how much is still in there after dropping the water out of the radiator.. that'd be why you noticed little or no difference.
I flushed the coolant out with water 3 times before adding water wetter. car definately runs cooler. Alot of temp gauges are inaccurate tho.. The WRXs sit on 'normal' temp but can vary by 15-20deg.. when they go up by that much, they start pulling out timing, the temp gauge doesn't move, but the power output drops.. you need a laptop plugged in to see the numbers. Water wetter stoops the temp getting to the point that it pulls timing. |

Yeah i flushed it four times over 2 days and it was clean water by the fourth time so yes it was done properly but like i said my car didnt have any probs with the cooling system or even got warm so i would say i didnt need water wetter.
I have honestly tried alot of different products in my motor, box, diff, car in general, some were expensive and some were avg price. Some work and some dont and its all trial and error to see what works best
