I have a 5lt ef v8 with the only engine mod being a cat back exhaust, i want a bit more out of her, it runs on duel fuel and now i am looking at getting extractors, what do you all use??
i dont want to spend big bucks, just want a bit more of a push down low.. and taking it off gas is not an option for anyone wanting to be smart!! Also whats the price range vary from for an off the shelf product fitted?

I think most people run the Pacemaker PH4000's that is what I have anyway. Roughly $600 or $900 ceramic coated I think I paid. Don't know if that is the installed price or not as I got them as part of a full system.

most people say pacemaker. my car had extractors when i bought it and i think they are hurricane tri y's. tri y's will give better down low increase where as 4 into 1's or tuned length will be better top end. i think thats how it works.

yep thats the way it goes, tri y's for low down power and 4 into 1's for topend. pacemaker dont make the 4 into 1's for e series anymore.

You pay around $800 for brand new pacemakers fitted over here. Thats the best price ive found, but they can be anywhere right upto $1200 fitted. The extractors themselves would probly only cost ya about $650 supplied if you were to fit them yaself, most exhaust places just charge alot for the labour coz they are slack and think its a C*** of a job.

if you are planning on upgrading the heads later on to the gt40p's it would pay to make sure the extractors you choose suit these heads and it will save you money in the long run. all extractors will physically bolt up but e series ones run into clearance issues with plugs and leads.

good point prydey but dont listen to the zorst shops. pacemaker say ph4000s wont fit 40p heads but they do, all ya gota change is the leads. best place for info like that is on here where you can talk to people that actually have them fitted.

Could anyone post a photo of how a plug lead fits an e series V8 with GT40Ps fitted?

if i remember i might take a pic of mine tomorrow. i have hurricane tri y's that were on my e7's. i've since changed to gtp's but am still running same headers and same leads even though most tell you you will need new leads with 90deg boots.
no issues whatsoever down drivers side. cyl 6 or 7 is the only area where it is very tight. i've used iridium plugs so that i don't have to change them that often as i can't actually get a socket on with the headers bolted up. then once the lead is on there is only about 1-2mm clearance between it and the exhaust. i've wrapped a bit of heat tape around it in that area to stop burning through the plug boot and arcing out on the pipes. so ideally i should've got new extractors and leads but it's not absolutely necessary.

thanks for that very useful info guys, i was thinking price was about 400-600, suprised a bit at the price... i want more down low.. i might have a problem with the gas converter possibly too, dont know how low that is though. I changed the plugs on it last weekend, i was so worried thinking it would be too tight to get in but it actually wasnt that bad at all, i could imagine changing the headers to be a b**ch though.
hurricane headers any good?? i hear alot of feedback for paceys but not much for hurricane....
