I think Pete has another EEC for him to switch over to see if that fixes the problem. dutchy told me he may be checking it out tomorrow. I kinda mentioned to him that you might be able to check his tb out to ensure it opens 100% one day, like you did on mine.

H i mate try spraying water or carby cleaner (carefully) over all the gaskets on your intake and see if it changes your idle best way to check for vacume leaks.

took the car back today and they retightened the manifold bolts and tried spraying it with carby cleaner but no luck with finding any leaks, they think its something to do with the EGR whistling. They have bypassed the ISC at the moment so they still think a new ECU will solve my idle issues so I will have to ask Pete nicely if I can try one of his

By passing the ISC wont remove the whistle, The port needs to be filled. Although not working, the air is still rushing past the port for the ISC hence the whistleing, Trust me on this, i had the same issue.

they plan to reconnect the ISC once this ECU problem is sorted out, I thought that I needed the ISC to stop it from stalling at idle?

You do, but the whistleing will not go away unless you smooth all the sharp edges inside the ISC port. Also, if you look at the ISC, from memory the ISC is smaller that the ports on the TB so they need smoothing asa well. What i was saying is to plug the ISC port and see if the whistleing goes away, if it does then my above guide on smoothing it out will help, if not then look elsewhere for the whistle. Brett

You would be right in thinking that, kinda. The isc is there to control the idle speed. But people do run their cars without them successfully. I don't know why it wouldn't be reconnected if when disconnnected it didn't rectify the problem.
Did you show how putting pressure on the intake changed the pitch of the whistle? If so, what was the response to that?

I didnt show them Chad, just told them about it so they said they would just tighten everything but it didnt make any difference, so they didnt realy believe me, maybe I imagined it who knows? I had been listening to that whistle for about half an hour at the time!thanks for the offer Jeff I might take you up on it, I already have a spare TB gasket kit because I ordered 2 by accident and thanks Brett I will look at the ISC port

What did they tighten? Just the bolts on top of the upper manifold? Or did they go down and nip up the lower as well?

I'm not sure as they made me wait in the front office, I just assumed they tightened the lower as well because it took a while to do
