Gday, I am looking at buying a BA Falcon, cant decide if i should just go a manual XT, or an XR6T or an XR8.

Is there much difference in the reliability of the various motors employed in the BA? Is the 4v V8 a problematic motor, or is it quite reliable?

Also what are common problems with the XR8's?

Thanks

My BA XR8 was a belter. Only problem was timing chain tensioners. Do a search, there's plenty of info on those. Have you taken each of the cars that you mentioned for a drive? There is no way you would mention a XT with an XR8 under the same breath unless of course the XT was a V8 in the first place.

I've driven an XT 5.4 manual(one of the very few) and it didn't set the world on fire. The 3V motor does respond to mods really well on the other hand and has great torque down low which is great if your towing or cruising at low revs around the streets.
