Ok well, I've been reading around and it seems like my cam specs are a bit odd.. like, they're smaller than a STD camshaft?
It was a roller regrind done at Kelford Camtech here in NZ I went small on the cam cos ususally I over cam engines for street cars and then complain about the lack of power down low. Of course, now I have dynoed in 246rwhp I can't help but think I should have more than that for my mods. (esp when people here are getting 260 - 280rwhp with similar setups) what do you guys think? Cam lift: IN. 0.282" Ex. 0.282" Rocker Ratio 1.6 1.6 Valve lift 0.435" 0.435" ( but with the 1.7 RR valve lift is 462) Duration @ 0.50 202 208 Centreline @ peaklift 110 114 camtiming@.050" Intake open 9 Close 31 Exhaust open 38 Close 10 Lobe Seperation 112 |

Yep definately too small mate.
Youd want to bring duration up to around 220 degrees and lift upto around .530"(depending on peak flow figures of heads, but .530" should be about right)

yeah I originally bought a non HO windsor.. so the cam is out of that.. a non-HO cam. I took it into Kelford Camtech and they put a grind on it for me.
I should have done my research at the time but from a history of over-camming street cars I decided to stick with a mild cam. Now I kinda wish I hadn't. lol I wonder how hard it is to change the cam in the enginebay.. icon_confused.gif |

It has less lift than a HO but more duration and a slightly narrower lobe sep than a HO.
HO has .444 lift but less than 200 degrees @ .050" If the centre support to your radiator support is removeable a cam change is quite easy. My mates Capri uses an F303 with stock Edelbrock 1.90's and ported Cobra intake...makes 330odd rwhp. |

what brand is a F303 ? specs?
what does lobe separation do exactly? With the 1.72RR my lift is .462 which is more than a HO then.. more duration and a slightly narrower lobe sep than a HO so my cam is bigger than an HO cam but not as big as aftermarket ones yes? |

The F303 is a Ford Racing Parts jobbie. If you do a google search on F303 you'l get bucketloads of info on it.

What is the rest of the engine combo? Or a link to a thread of it?
Are you running the standard ECU? F303 is a good grind, although a little large for a 5.0L turning to 5500. Jeff's ute with the Crane 2040 (E303) and 1.7s works very well.

May be strange BUT to drive ON THE STREET the E303 is a wilder cam to drive over the F303.. Maybe the LSA is doing its job on the F303..
Off topic .. The F303 has made over 1000 h.p on an aftermarket block and turbo engine.. Better get back and talk to Keven.. Unless you've got a small base circle cam?? Yes they can be changed in engine bay.. From memory remove bumper, swing heat exchanger etc out of the way..Take radiator etc out and you should know the rest.. The newer cams give exhaust alittle more timing.. Check out TFS 1 cam / Crane 2030 / 2031 for timing events.. Quite streetable with GOOD tune...

yeah PK is a friend of mine so he looks after me..
oh one other thing I forgot to mention is that I kept the tune for .91 oct lol so I probably could have advanced the timing for 96 or 98.. |
