Hi looking at a BA2 XR8. I have read that BA had the plastic tentioners that needed replacement.
I read in other places that they were changed in BA2 Does anyone know definately when they were changed to metal tensioners. So much opinion in threads without proof.

AFAIK, the metal tensioners were standard fitting on very late BAII's and then on BF's.
If you are interested in buying the car, check it's history with a Ford dealer or with Ford by contacting them on 133673 |

A friend of mine has a MKII XR8, 05 model, don't know the actual build date, but it has the plastic tensioners......I will be replacing them next thursday.......I'll take pics along the way.

It turns out they are metal ones.......but I noticed the left bank Morse chain tensioner has been pumping a lot.....the piston on it had quite a wide shinny bit, compared to the others.
When I removed it, it had very fine metal contamination behind it......where it gets fed oil pressure. Also, that cam chain was stretched quite a bit too. So, now the car sits waiting for chains to come......also had to make a tool to hold the cams still. I'll post photos later.
