Hi all,
I know the GTs all got a twin exhaust (stainless) from the factory but I was wondering if any of the cars had decent extractors from ford? I know the boss 260s dont but what about the fg xr8s ba/bf/fg gts etc? And if so is there a noticable gain achieved by replacing them with aftermarket units as fas as sound/power is concerned? Thanks |

They all have the same shorty extractors from the factory...even the 260. Long tube aftermarket headers do give a good increase in performance. They sound better too although the rest of the exhaust has more to do with sound than the headers.

ah ok, are they a reasonable good extractor? (eg. not a shocking design like the efi windsor ones!)
are the 290 gt extractors the same as the 260 ones? |

Read the 1st reply, it says they all get the same shorty extractors.

As shorty headers go, they are pretty good. Modulars are more like a cleveland in terms of exhaust, ie not tiny ports with a tiny horizontal bolt pattern like a windsor has but large spaced diagonal bolt pattern. Doesn't make em any easier to change because the engine is so damn big.
Here's the stock ones... http://www.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl= ...
