Hey guys, need some help on selecting a cam for my ef, will be running gt40p heads, explorer manifold, roller rockers, paceys etc The car is a 5 speed. What about the crane stuff 2030, 2031 alot of people seem to use these??Also how will the standard computer be with this type of cam??

The Crane 2030 and 2031 are excellent choices because they produce good power both up high and down low, and they work with the factory EEC. If you want something a bit larger you can look at the Trickflow TFS1 which does produce more power but the idle starts to get fairly lumpy, and to get the most out of it you really need a chip at least.

Yeah they are pretty much the same, the 2030 is sligtly more aggressive so that would be my pick but it all depends on what ratio rockers you have already. 2031 requires 1.72 rockers while the 2030 uses 1.6. |

Can you run the 2030 cam with the standard computer or do you have to chip it

Sorry to interrupt this thread again but where did you find this 2030 spec cam. I don't really know much bout cams but I did a search in the ford section for my year model and I didn't see anything that had to do with 2030

It will run fine with the standard EEC Cam specs are: Crane 2031 : .513/.529 lift 214/220@50th 1400-5400rpm power range Crane 2030 : .533/.544 lift 216/220@50th 1400-5400rpm power range |

That was another thing i wanted to ask .. these gt40p heads i got have yella terra roller rockers on them. i've contacted yella terra to find out wat ratio they are. They said there should be markings on them but i can't find anything on them? Is there another way of finding out whether they're 1.6 or 1.72??

You can measure the distance on each side of the pivot and calculate the ratio from that. There is no part number on the rockers?

There's no markings that i can see.. unless they're underneath the rocker?? maybe i need to take them off?

It sounds like the rockers that were factory fitted to the AU XR8's had no markings on them...
I bought some 1.6:1 YT Stealth rockers, and they each have a '6' stamped in a little circle at the nose of the rocker. You'll will just need to take some measurements. I've got a 2030 in mine with standard computer. It stalls after hard braking to a complete stop, and sometimes at low speed changing from D to R (its auto), like in carparks and stuff....no big dramas. It's a great cam, I'd recommend it. |

With the installing of 1.72 YT rockers, I am aware of the adjustable type and the non-adjustable type. Which is appropriate or what are the pro's and con's of either?

The adjstable ones allow you to set up preload and valve train alignment easier but also require taller aftermarket rocker covers (which normally aren't cheap). The standard non-adjustable ones are fine for most cams out there though.

Unfortunately I do not wholly understand the advantage of preload and alignment and how it is better? Could you enlighten me please?
