Whos still doing the under the airbox hole mod?
Is it better to buy the tickford snorkel or just cut out under the airbox, small hole mod.. Which intake performs better for a stockish V8??

The stock airbox has enough flow to support the 165kw HO spec engine (assuming your talking about an eseries v8). If you really want, you can get a el gt air snorkle and K&N high flow panel filter but you wont see much difference to any. Id only touch the airbox/pipe and MAF if you had bigger heads, better flowing manifold and camshaft. Then there would be some form of gain as the engine needs more air supply to compliment the parts. The standard HO manifold and E7 head combo is just meh.
Cutting a hole in airbox would only improve induction noise in your case. No point really, but you can do it if you want. You would see better results doing this to an AU but still its not by much. |

i've been meaning to plumb a piece of pipe from that hole under the airbox through to the front bar somewhere ever since i bought it but never got around to it.
the hole is still there but couldn't say if its doing anything because i never had it before the hole was cut.

I have a tickford snorkel and a 3 inch hole in the side of my airbox that has a flexi pipe to some nice cold air at the front of the bumper and it does make a noticeable difference, i also have a lukey panel air cleaner.
My auto eb mont runs 15.2 on the quarter and gets 14 litres per hundred km in the city. Cheers shannon
