Wiring and plug(s) at alternator is different. EF-EL = 1 (2 pin) plug, EB-ED = 2 plugs (1 pin & 3 pin).

Keep your original Alternator - puts out more power and is cheaper than the Motorcraft one. Easier to get hold of bits for the Mitsubishi alt's and the best thing I have done with my EB XR8 so far.

If you fir the Mitsubishi alternator also fit a BA 6 cyinder alternator pulley. It is heaps smaller then the standard one and keeps the charge up all the time. We have them on ours and mine charges perfect with underdrives and the missus's XR8 doesnt drop the charge rate at all even in traffic with air con , light , rear demister and thermo fans running. The XR is running standard pulleys.
