A 220 motor means you have an AU, correct?
They already have an Explorer manifold so I'm guessing you want to get something aftermarket?

Yea its a tickford enhanced AUII XR8
To be honest i dont know much about intake manifolds im still learning, i have seen people talk about gt40 and explorer intakes so im assumeing they are the better ones of the lot before you upgrade to edlebrock and such... so if it has got the explorer intake manifold on it then i will be looking at going to after market... any particulars to look for?

I have heard good things about the Edelbrock RPM 2 manifold. You could then fit a larger TB and MAF.
I believe you get more of an increase in the higher rpm range. Not sure if the AU's ECU will cope or not. If not then you can get a custom tune which just by itself ought to really liven up your engine. I guess it depends on how much money you want to throw at it?

The standard intake & heads on the 220 motor are already quite capable. Not really worth changing unless your after 200rwkw+
Just get a cam change, exhaust & a tune which should see you around 190 - 200rwkw on a 5 speed.

probably the only manifold that you could swap with some imporve results is an edelbrock performer (typhoon pro products), with those yella terra gt40p heads. Edelbrock takes power to 6000rpm but will retain the power downlow and midrange like an explorer. It also flows around 220cfm mark, which is sufficient for 220kw heads. Any other manifold will require you to make power to 6500rpm and your heads cant support that....unless you opt for alloys or port those 220kw heads further.
Those 220kw heads would flow around 210cfm+, while the explorer is around high 190 cfm. Explorer is fine for stock gt40p's, but there would be some gain if you either port your lower explorer manifold and get a cam orrrr get a typhoon copy, clean it up and go for an even bigger cam to take you to 6000rpm. That would be your best bet with mods while keeping those 220kw gt40p's Either way 220kw engines respond well to mods and already have around 160-170rwk stock. Alot of cam'd up gt40p, explorer combos on e-series are hard pressed for 180rwk. |

What cost's would you be looking at for these modification's?

I'd be looking at heads & cam before changing the intake manifold... A set of AFR 165s with a Comp XE270HR, Crane 2031 or TFS1 cam would work really well and give you more of an increase than any intake swap. If you are keen on an intake swap look at the RPM 2 from Edelbrock or a BBK SSi dual plenum intake.
