Thanks for taking the time to find the EGR Pete, stuffed if I could find the right one!
So it's OK to run the car permanently without EGR? If so, I'll block it off and see how it goes. Regarding the HEGOs, I have cleaned up the connections at the salt and pepper shakers many times. Do the ground wires run to those connectors? If not, will a cut and splice with a new earth to the body for each sensor do the trick? Thanks again (again), Mike

Hi Mike,
I've known the right one for about 22years so no biggie. You can't run without EGR, without other issues unless you turn it off in the EEC or trick it with resistors externally. Having said that the issues aren't terrible but I wouldn't simply because you'll be adding to your problem diagnosis. I'd just block it off momentarily to test wether the valve itself is leaking and creating a vac leak. Yes your grounds run through those connectors including the Orange HEGO ground. I'm actually having running problems because those connectors are dodgy on my 351 rangie....trying to find another good engine harness ain't easy. You don't want the signal ground or HEGO ground to go to the body. They must remain separate and go directly to the EEC. Cheers, Pete. |
