i know the winsor is not the most powerful engine with only a bit more power than your i6 but is it worth going an 8 for that little bit more kit and how are they on fuel?

yeah, they're no quicker than the 6.
Well in XR form anyway.
Fuel is pretty good on them, if you can afford to run a 6, you can afford to run and 8. I get anywhere from 350-800km a tank.
Only problem is, they cost a bit more to modify than the 6's but they sound so much damn better.

By the way, what car are you looking at getting?

I've had 3 i6's and one 8 which is the one i've got now, and I wont go back to the 6. Although it chews a little more fuel, you cant beat the sound (with an exhaust) and the different feel of an 8.
They are a bit more expensive to modify, but you can probably achieve greater gains with the 8 when you stroke/blow/turbo etc.

not to mention u will more than likely go through a few head gaskets with the 6,go the 8 effortless go and they sound alot better than the 6

I drive Falcon 6's most of the time but I love my V8. They aren't any quicker stock but IMO they feel so much better. Although they are more expensive to mod the results are far better and you can now find a lot of cheaper parts (AU heads, manifolds etc) or order the parts from the US.

get an el 2 xr8 .. the best e-series windsor made.. almost an au engine... they are your best bet .. they are quicker in stock trim than xr6's... bout the only e-series that was.. and with a few simple mods remain quicker than xr6's..

If your asking about fuel economy dont even bother with a V8.

go the V8, they sound better, feel better, after mods you can get more power out of them then a 6, but fuel econ i only get about 320km's out of a tank, little more if i take it easy and run the tank lower

I have always like the post 11/1997 El XR8's as they sound TOUGH AS! So I reckon get one.
But in regards to fuel consumption it is a fair enough estimate that you will be looking at using the equivalent of 1/3rd more fuel than what a 4Litre/6 uses in the 5Litre/V8.
