its funny cant have a little upgrade like an aftermarket manifold but then u can have 330 kw GT out the factory cruzing on the street with no problems

Ahh yeah, because it meets better emissions standards than the earlier model did to begin with anyway... :S

Regardless yes the laws are f**k, but is a lot easier to politicians to pick on a minority (such as those who modify cars) then say only let everyone drive their cars to work 4 days a week, and makes them a lot more popular

Seriously do people google "f**k up modifications for Fords owned by Jews" and get linked straight to this site nowadays?

AU,factory fitted tickford kit/IRS, t5,Sports ryder/KYB: gone.

I'm not sure what the rife height requirments are in SA, but in Vic it's 100mm from the ground to the lowest point of your car. Lowest Metal point, I think, so fibreglass bodykits don't count.

You may get away with cancelling rego and re-registering it..

great response cheers guys
xcabbi that does make alot of sense considering after the manifold was put in i had to get it flash tuned to get the rite fuel air mixture which was more fuel... i was thinking will just the stock plenum of an explorer manifold fit on to the elderbrock manifold? im pretty confidant the car will be under the legal limit for emissions considering the elderbrock manifold is legal in California where they have very harsh emission rules and it says on there site to emission standards
i have the original ecu in my car set with 3 tunes factory sports and performance so i will just run it with factory even though it will go like dog balls?

also not sure if its the same for the xr8,s but legal height is 337 mm from centre of hub to the tip of the guard my front is freeeeeeking 4 mm to low the rears all good. the 100 mm rule they dont do any more in s.a the bloke said

spewing i dont have any of the stock gear to replace this with dont cops know apprentices dont have $$$$

I have a AU explorer manifold here that I would swap for your edelbrock one.
I already have 1 RPMII in use another wouldnt hurt.

Why not get it tested and see if it passes emmissions. Whats the worst that could happen. And if it does pass, then carry the cert that says so.

My engine has heads/cam/manifold/headers and it is all oversized, yet i sailed through an emissions test due to a tune on E85 and 400cell cats.

Good luck

Brett

Exactly. If you can prove that what you have is cleaner than stock then you have nothing to worry about. Don't be a forum gypsy and put it all in the "too expensive/too hard" basket. Back yourself and get an emissions test. Hell even travel to sydney if you have to cause they are free here.

Some good info here. Over here, a mate's EL XR8 with 363 Dart block, AFR 185s, RPMII, surge tank and fuel pump in boot, 9" and TKO600 passed with just a 5 gas test. It pretty much comes down to being able to meet emissions.

I forgot to mention on this the lane passed emission checks, I jacked up the car and put runner spacers between the springs to raise it, made a baffle plate for the exhaust with Steelo whoop to keep it qiet, put sticky take over the edelbrock manifold and painted it the same colour and got mum to take it in :) passed with flying colours

Here in WA we get our supercharged V8 LS2/LS3 holdens licensed and road legal relatively easily even with big cams.
Just need to have a 5 gas emissions test done and a heap of paperwork

Of course you could argue the case because the Edelbrock Performer is CARB legal which means it actually exceeds the ADR requirements.

That's what I'd be doing. Much easier than getting the test. You can get the CARB details & submit that as proof of passing.

Cheers

Funny thing is All aftermarket intakes except for the box uppers and the trickflow r series and edelbrock victor 5.0 are CARB legal but the explorer intake and gt40p heads as a combination are not as there is no provision for EGR.

The real funny part is we tightened up our emissions to Euro 2 when the AU came out. That really makes a mockery of things that the factory deleted EGR and fitted faster burning heads to get better emissions but if you do it to your own ride you get raped by the authorities.
