Just curious on the xr8 my oil pressure/temperature gage in the left hand top corner of the cluster. im not sure which one it is, (pressure/temperature ) but anyhow.. it sits always up around 1 or two clicks under red.. and after i drive the car normally it quite often sits in the red zone till i ease off the pedal down to about 40-50... any ideas on what could be causing the high temp/pressure ? and if its something I should get looked at soon ?

The top left gauge is the oil pressure guage.
Mine had started to behave a bit erratically this last few weeks, suddenly reading in the red (high) then returning to normal. Bought a new sender unit and installed it this weekend and the gauge is functioning perfectly again.
Have fun replacing the sender, its in a s**t spot to get to on the V8!

i see ... so its not necessarily a problem with the car just a technical glitch.. sort of .. what was the sender worth and do you care to elaborate on where and why its a son of a to get to ?

Yeah i second Darin's comments... its an absolute bugger to get to. Made much much harder by 3/4inch thick supercharger brackets!!!!

Its pretty much next to the oil filter. On the passenger side of the block, near the timing cover/water pump... sorta... not much you can remove to make life easier... i'd prolly drop the serp belt off... might be easier to get to from the bottom?

Very easy with timing cover removed 8-) But i wouldnt go there....
