Hi guys,
Just bought an 03 XR8. The previous owner told me that the dealer he normally went to swapped the engine for him under warranty for whatever reason and supplied me the paperwork to confirm it. I was wondering if there is any way to decipher the engine number so I can tell what it came out of. The engine number is FPV5921012. Thanks for the help.

Ford did have a s**t load of trouble with the early v8, I think it was related to oil pressure. I have a factory near Orgers in Melb, and they got them back by the truck load. With an fpv prefix you would assume it is a performance engine.

Yeah I thought it was some type of oil pressure issue by what the guy said but he wasn't exactly sure. I just thought I could tell what year model the engine was from the engine number.

The oil pressure drama would have been either chain tensioners or oil pump gears. BTW, all BOSS 260/290/302/315's got FPV prefix engine mumbers.

I could find out the oil broblem, I know Peter Orger, but dont see him very often and he sold Orgers a while ago. If all engines had the fpv prefix then maybe the numbers tell a story or maybe the part number of the heads.
