Hi guys well I have a 98 xh and I'm a p plater just wondering what the best things to do to my car that's still p plate legal. I already have a 2,1/2 inch full exhaust system that sounds beast, 19 inch black fpv rims and that's about it. So what can I do for performance and looks thanks guys!

Throw in a cam, 977b would go good. Some diff gears ? Use a k&n filter instead of paper or use a pod filter . The list goes on but that's basic stuff.

Look in 6 cylinder work shop theres a thread about modifications

3.45 lsd would be good in a manual and extractors and a cam

Being on your P plates I probably wouldn't worry too much about performance. Having those plates is a bit of a police magnet already, you don't want to give them something to book you for. The manual has a lot more feel to it than the auto anyway.

I put some pics of my XH in the 'show us your e-series thread' the other day (page 177) which might give you some ideas. The little things like clear side indicators, the gear shifter boot and steel valve caps add up to make it look sweet. Most of that sort of stuff is always on Ebay and is super cheap. There's heaps of stuff on here to get you started, heaps of my mods are from this website.

Mine doesn't scream at the police to pull me over but people who know cars give me compliments from time to time. It's comfortable for what I use it for and I know I can drive it across the country tomorrow and it won't miss a beat (did that in March actually, 6000kms in 4 days and ran perfectly).

One mod I would recommend is the genuine service manual. If you plan on doing lots yourself this thing will pay for itself in about 2hrs. Gregories and the others are cheaper but the Ford one is for the XH ute only. http://www.pitstop.net.au/view/products ... /plu/1979/

Have fun.

AU centre console so you get cup holders and a bit of comfort.

i personally wouldn't recommend anything to drastic apart from the above mentioned as you'll find XH's are a complete pain in the a** structurally. i have an AU console in mine with BA short shifter, looks mint. and the cup holders are a dream as any XH driver will tell you. what i would do though mate, save up and buy some spare XH door hinges. your gonna need them down the track some time
