G'day again
Au motor idea has now been givin the a**e due to how much its gona cost for a full rebuild plus all the good bits i have decided to pursue the cross flow. I know its a fair way behind in terms of technology but the $$$ are a lot better. I was thinking of the following in my rebuild of the injected motor. Block honed and oversized. Crank reground. Oversized pistons Compression rise (not sure how much, any suggestions?) Port and polish Bigger valves. Larger injectors Larger throttle body mandrel bent intake Pod filter twin thermo fans Electric water pump Larger fuel pump T5 gearbox lsd diff Any one think this is good/bad/great/s**t Cheers

that is a nice combination of mods you have there, do this to a 3.9/4.0L and you'll love it!

Why is the 4.0 litre so far superior that every body reccomends it.
The only reason i can see that i would rather the cross flow is i know every bolt on them, ive pulled plently apart before. Ive never touched an ea-ed. Keep the advice coming Cheers

Yeah, and efi has nothing to do with it

yeah 250 crossflows have efi, but the overhead cam was my main reason!

I'd be a d**khead then, i for got all about the over head cam, makes for better horsepower gains.
I'm currently looking into which price is going to be better for me. Seing as i dont know alot about how the eb-ed motors go together i would have to get some one to do it for me, which will cost a fair bit more than i'd like to spend. I have how ever spoken to a head shop who seam to think that the cross flow head can flow better ported and polished than an eb-ed head for the price i want to spend. This has something to do with the fact that you can stick cleveland valves into the cross flow head. I'm getting a second opion because this didn't seam rite to me. What do you guys reckon? Cheers

Yeah the usual valves used in an oversied application for the 250 X flow are 2V clevland valves. I'm still weighing up between 4.0 OHC or the old 4.1 and I'm swaying towards the older motor aswell. There is a lot more aftermarket support for the older engine. Just look in the just parts magazine and see all the hi performance 4.1 X flow engine parts advertised compared to the 3.9/4.0.

Ive been doing the same thing since my last post at 5 oclock.
There are quite a few good bits for these motors. What were you thinking of putting into your motor xcabbi. What about gearbox and diff. I'm gone run a t5 out of an el or au if i can get one, just gona run the started lsd diff. My brake set up is under construction. Cheers

Still ideas but something along the lines of a 250 turbo on LPG. Bottom end will be a prepped stock crank, shotpeened I beam rods, custom stud girlde and ACL race series pistons (or forgies if the budget allows) while the head would be ported with oversize valves. Might also fit roller rockers even though I only plan to rev the thing just a little over 6000rpm. Turbo is anyones guess, T66,GT42, anything capable of 600+hp really? Gearbox would be a fully manualised C4 with between 3000 and 3500rpm stall and transbrake. Diff would be 3.45 minispooled borg warner. I'm still trying to get a price on all of this and it will probably be between 10 and 15k. Ideally i would only like to tip between 8 and 10 k into the whole driveline then i can spend some on paint panel and suspension. My brother is a panel beater so I can get that done for next to nothing. I work and he just sits on a milk crate telling me how much of a f**k up i am.

Sounds pretty good,
I would love a turbo but cause its gone be a daily driver and i need to tow trailers with boats on them, it will be to un reliable. I did look into a turbo setup a while back using one of the few djr kits that are floating around second hand. All the bits you have suggested are the go. The advantage with the djr kits is that they were adr approved when released so an engineer will have no drama in passing them, that way you could run petrol if you wanted (not that there is anything wrong with gas) Keep us updated if you decide to run with the idea. Cheers

But then again a cheaper alternative would be an AU block and BA head that's been abraisive power ported just to clean up any casting marks. XR6T turbo and exhaust manifold nizpro plenum on stock manifold front mount cooler and big mumma GRA carb with massive boost. That thing would spit out over 500 at the treads no sweat and have a greater chance of hanging together.

Yeah great idea
Just depends on how much you have to spend. If i had the money to do that i would just convert to v8. Cheers
