Hi, I read in the Owners manual that the 4 spd auto is "SEALED FOR LIFE", and no service is required in the life of the auto unit. I am just wondering if I should and could drop the oil, change filters etc?? , band adjustment??? any advice would be helpful. cheers :

Ive never heard that before.....
I've got the same 4 speed BTR tranny in my EBII I believe, and the recommended service intervals from my Auto Trans bloke is around 30,000km. Last service I had included a flush through, new trans fluid, conditioner and band adjustment. This resulted in a noticeable improvement with crisper gear changes... great to drive. Not too bad I reckon, for a tranny with over 300 thou on it. |

early btr 4 speeds ( ea-ed ? ) had external band adjustment. later trans with no dipstick have a fill plug on the driver's side of the case towards the back. they can certainly be serviced. and it is a damn good idea.
