That model came out with the 302 and 351 from the factory, that model were the very last v8 Fairlanes untill the NC (EB) Fairlanes.

Engineers cerificate isnt needed, a C4 auto should do the trick, i think they to were the auto used in that model with a V8

all you've gotta do to keep everything legal is to inform your local registration authority of the engine swap, as well as the new engine number

Easiest thing to do is buy a rusted out 80's X-series and swap the mounts etc over.

tell rego authprity? does that work, i seen a local engineer for my mate and he said that if the engine is older then the car he catn register it? is this true?

also is there a website we can use to look up the engine number and decode it to see when it is made and what kind of car it possibly came out of?

he bought this engine private sale and the seller said it came out of a written of XY but sellers do talk a bit of s**t we all know weve all sold something before haha.

but yer is there anyway we can check this stuff, we tried revscheck but i think thats only to check out a car you cant just chck a an engine by itself

No, your Fairlane would most likely have a Borg Warner 35 or Borg Warner 40, not a C4.
No matter what cleverland you use, its just a cleverland, shouldnt have trouble to rego it regardless of its age
