hey all, pulled the regulator out the back of my alt coz it was starting to die, got a new Bosch replacement for it, but the wire that is inside the alternator that connects to the new reg, has nowhere to attach to - except there is a part that has a bit of solder on it where it looks like it might have been ment to go :S

see pic in link below (pretty bad i know - taken on my phone) ut it gives an idea at least
(i tried to attach the pic to the post itself.. but i gotsa "fatal error" ? :S

ps - do i NEED to connect the wire in the alt to the reg - is it nec?

you see the 2 bits of braided wire coming off the brushes in the pic? the top one in the pic, where it goes to a solid bar and gets bent over is where the female spade terminal goes onto, it should be obvious, failing that, get a photo of the other side, and i'll circle the bit it goes onto

they usually have a push-on terminal on the alternator, but they tend to break off after a few services.
as interceptor said, it's on the other side of the reg.
get a pic, that would help.

cool thanks guys - i feel a little bit like a tool now tho :P :lol:

put it in, and all back together, and the battery is dead - like only holding 0.97volts... so have to charge it up before i know if i did it all right or not! lolz
