If theres no dipstick, they're not going to start it, and will most likely move on to the EA parked next to it EA's are heaps easier to steal than XF's. Bend the rear door outwards so you get enough room to slip your hand in to open it. Once your in just pop the bonnet and pull the dipstick out (EA's can run quite well without dipsticks, unlike XF's which instantly stall). Then just put the dipstick in the keyhole and one quick flick of the wrist and she's started. I never believed it was so easy untill a mate of mine showed me on our old EA. |

You still looking for security ideas? Take out the distributor lead from the dizzy to the coil. Do what the bike riders do, take one wheel off and chain it to the body.

i've got an engine immobiliser and flathead door lock knobs. was broken into recently and they couldn't get away with the car, only my $15 and bag of lolly pops... lol the only downside to flathead door lock knobs is that they will go through the window to get inside, but an immobiliser is a very worthwhile investment

face it, a professional car theif, whether it be a 2005 VZ Clubsport or a 1988 Ford Falcon, will take your car if they want to. Engine imobilizers, cut off switches, clublocks, flat head locks, will only slow them down.
A smart car theif will know every method mentioned in this thread and would most likely go looking for every one of em as soon as he/she is in the car. It sucks but such is life hey!?

You are quite correct, if they want it they will take it, for instance there were only 2 of the xf svo,s made by d**k johnson and Peter harden, who by the way ended up working for SBR and is now in the usa, Peter harden actually flagged me down while i was driving past Macca,s at aspley. He told me how the brock shop had put the engine back together on the 1st one and Ross palmer,s son had driven the car to carindale shopping centre and it got stolen. Peter harden had pulled me over because he thought i was driving the 1st one. He reckons it now lives in NEW ZEALAND. Now there are only 2 of these things who in their right mind would steal one of these SVO,s and drive them around, it would stand out like the proverbial dog,s hind legs. The falcons up until the smartlock came out were pretty easy to steal. To get past the smartlock-computer-system you need some pretty expensive gear to by pass the system and to cut a key, and this all takes time to do, not that the car can not be stolen, it just takes time to do and the thief does not have that time hopefully.

It's no where near that hard. Those that know me know I can bypass smartlock. The point of security is to make your car less 'attractive' than teh one next to it with no security.
