About to put a new(for me) BF engine into my XG ute
Getting an engine with 50-60k on the clock, with everything hanging off it (both inlet and exhaust manifolds, loom upto ecu, alternator, power steering pump, A/C, starter, water pump.) From what i read I will have to change: The bonnet, new engine is taller. -Already have a BA xr8 bonnet that i will cut the center out and fiberglass/body fill into the old The Bell housing on the auto (id like to keep the old one if possible) Lower the swaybar an inch or so... Should be no issue with K-Frame I will be running the engine off a MoTeC M800 Any thoughts, suggestions or issues i have not thought of? I will post photos and updates as i go Thanks |

the ba engine will bolt to the xg/eb bellhousing but the lower bolts wont line up..
but if you get an au bellhousing it will bolt up to the box and the engine with no problems.. |

as above, but you'll hit the sway bar.

Got the engine out last w/e, first time ive done stuff like this, it was relatively easy, took about 5 beers.
Just gotta clean up the rest of the wiring through the week. New engine arriving this w/e includes, engine, loom, ecu, inlet and exhaust manifolds, alternator and powersteering pump for $1000 not too bad yer? Also, Ive had alot of people tell me alot of different things, will i have to get an engineers cert. once im done? im not cutting into any structual part of the car, and its basicly the same engine going in... |

you will need an engineers certificate to be legal, while its a similar engine its not the same..
you will also need to meet the emissions of the bf falcon.. |

Forgot about this thread.
Got it from grant walker parts. Finished this all for under $1500 not including ecu. Few random heater hoses, radiator hoses. Fabricated some adaptors to sit the sway bar lower, and just cut and cleaned up a section of the bonnet bracing and it fits under the original bonnet! The most expensive part was the motec ecu (amazing) but you can do it with the standard ecu if you have parts from the immobiliser I believe. |

I've pulled the engine back out for some more tinkering
Rewire and a mild cam. And I might chuck it on the engine dyno for a bit, find out exactly what its making. I'll take some pics when I put it back together. |
