When I brought my old ZH (many moons ago) only one brake light worked.
So when I got the car home I started looking , only to find that all the connections had corroded, the solution to the problem was to put XB lamp holders in.

if the stick is really loose, that can be the problem, the flasher unit is the thing that goes tick tick tick when you indicate.

well if it goes tick tick tick, the flasher unit could be intermittent, if the stick is loose, wiggle it around and see if it works/dosent work in certain positions, these are the 2 easiest things to do, the next thing is the hazard switch, the indicators work off the hazard switch in some cars, so check it out also.

With my experiance as an electrician, I would probably start with the fuse.

now it sounds like a short between the brake light wirign and indicator wiring.
For the price, just replace the flasher unit they're not that dear.

if the flasher unit is not to blame, then id go and check my earth connections, that was my problem a few times.

Ps, thats a nice blue Fairlane in your sig, Photoshop?
