Hi can anyone help me, I'm in the throws of changing my steering set up to pwr steer using an xf box and pump. So far I've had to remove the header strtr mtr and now it looks like it won't line up with the existing column which was a column auto shift but car was changed to floor shift due to the pacemakers when they were fitted by the previous owner. Am I pushing s**t up hill on this or is there a way to get it to all fit .I'm new to Ford's and need a bit of advise, I'm told by others it should fit but I'm not so sure at this stage.

not enough room to fit the box in behind the coupling. plus i am worried there is no room for the headers once the box is in. i would appreciate any assistance.

When I changed from maual to power steering on my XB, I used a box from a ZH Fairlane. It was a straight up fit, no probs anywhere. Maybe the XF one is just not compatible.

Ive just had a go at this in my xb, got all the way there, then i realised the steering colum was too long because of the colum shift manual, you will have to get a blank column to get it all together. Mine only misses by about an inch. The shock tower is in the way and bolt holes dont line up...

The power steer box is longer than the manual one - you need to gently knock the inner shaft (the bit with the coupling on it) up about two inches - it slides to allow the column to collapse in the event of a collision Your column shift column should work OK Clearance to the headers is a whole 'nother problem... |

Nope, it is designed to slide - has an o-ring thingy on the inner shaft to stop it from rattling around - get a spare one and pull the inner shaft out - you'll see what I mean. You are better off without one and the headers will probably be OK... |
