hi i have a xy 351 with a fg thermo fan coupled to a 60mm vs alloy radiator 160 thermostat runs well but when it is stoked a little the temp starts to climb sits around 200 what more could i do to cool it down a little thanks dave

I came across this before. Tried 3 different brand water pumps, ( 2 cast iron, 1 alloy ), to no avail, even had a 4 core Aussie Desert cooler radiator.
I checked the clearence of the impellor to the pump housing, pressed it so it was closer ( about 0.020" ), then made a round plate out of 1.0mm stainless steel, drilled holes in it at the right places, puddle welded it to the impellor fins, checked clearence to timing chain cover. Fitted the pump, whala, fixed. I had made the pump more positive in its displacement of the water.

my 351 cleveland in the xr runs just under 240 degrees farenheight on a warm day in traffic. i have a 3 core xb gt crossflow radiator and single 16" thermofan and a 15 pound radiator cap. motor has 320 rwhp and has done 7000 miles so far.

HI YES IT IS 200F GOOD COOLANT STOKE IT MEANS REV IT TO ABOUT 6500 IN ALL GEARS OUT ON THE OPEN ROAD TAKES A LONG TIME TO DROP BACK TO 180F THANKS VERY MUCH FOR YOUR REPLIES DAVE

Well...just to be picky...the water is under 1 atmosphere of pressure..without a lid to capture the steam. Have you ever measured the temp of the engine oil??? An EF 6cyl runs a 120kpa cap and V6 Commo's run a 135kpa cap.

Another thing to look at is air in and out of your radiator - how well is it sealed to the metal around it? gaps will give you less efficient cooling, same goes for a shroud if you can fit one - Also, a small `spoiler' directly under the radiator can help air recycling under the rad - have a look at how VL commodes are set up, with two small spoilers, one under rad, one a bit in front of it - actually works quite well.
