Gday all,

I have succesfully replaced the 2 speed auto with a 3 speed manual, although the 3 speed has decreased the revs at 80/90 a little its still not where I want it to be, drinks too much fuel keeping up!!

I was wondering if anyone knows of a diff thats a suitable replacement for the 3.5 ford diff!!

I know that the xk is a narrow wheelbase rig, but i recall reading somewhere that there is a mitsubishi diff or something like that that needs little to no modification to bolt up. I would go and get a 8 3/4 diff cut down to suit but i dont have a spare grand lying around (quotes rangefrom 850 - 1200). Any thoughts, or does anyone know of someone around the gold coast with 60's mustang diffs they want to offload??

By memory a XW/XY diff is shorter a XA on.

If you can get hold of a 3.2 ratio crownwheel & pinion that was optional on some XP's that had 14" wheels, But i have seen them in XL's & XM's as well & have it fitted into your housing is the easiest & cheapest option.

A 6cyl Centura diff fits straight under once you fit the Falcon spring pads, But then you have to get your axles re-drilled to 4 stud (or convert your fronts to 5 stud to suit) & have your tailshaft modified to suit the bigger rear uni that is needed. But Centura diffs are getting harder to find & expensive due to them being popular also with the hotrod boys.

You could try some of the local Mustang importers. A pre-67 mustang diff will fit straight in, and there are a lot of 6 cyl s**t box mustangs around that have had a v8 & 9 inch conversion. You might be lucky....
