As suggested, chasing a digital copy of the WM25S XG supplement.

Cheers,
Tim

Best of luck with that.

I've got the paper based manual - it's mine, all mine

Actually, quite a few sections just say to refer the XF manual - with the XG differences, you should be able to source that from E series manuals.

We have one with no spark and the wiring is a weird weird mix up of leftover random spares from many makes I'm sure...

When the ignition system is tested a PIP signal is present leaving the TFI but no SPOUT signal is present returning to the TFI... Hence no spark... The other anomaly is there is no injector pulse which tends to indicate the PIP isn't making it to the computer, which is has to be because have proven continuity of the associated wires...

So thoughts lead now to the computer.... Tried another computer with no avail... So now something along the lines of the smartlock module... Trying to find any info on if, how you get it out, and what it looks like, as well as re-programming for the new one...

Snap, you're the X series man... Thoughts?

Cheers,
Tim

It's all pretty much EBII/ED - smartlock module is behind or around the dash LH air vent.

So the smartlock module itself looks like an ED one?

Do all XG's have an indicator in the dash for smartlock? This one has no jewel flashing.

Cheers,
Tim

Nah, from memory, Mar 93 to May 93 ones didn't have smartlock.
The module is actually behind the LH dash speaker.

This one has smartlock written on the quarter glass windows so guessing it does... But there is no jewel in the cluster to indicate it's status...

The old man thinks it is a yellow module on these... Yes behind the left speaker but was think it appeared physically different?

Cheers,
Tim

The smartlock light in my XG is a red led.My XG is a mish mash of XF/XG/EBII.Seems like they just used any parts left laying around when they built them to confuse us further down the track.

Turns out it isn't physically the same as the ED smartlock module... It is about 4" x 4" square looking...

It is behind the left speaker and appears the dash needs removal to get it out... It screwed to the rear glove box panel and these screws are inaccessible due to the recirc box for the ac being there...

The no pulse on the Spout wire is caused by the EEC not receiving the enable signal from the smatlock module... Also the smartlock module is not flashing the jewel in the dash so it appears it is cactus... This is in turn why it has no spark and no injector pulse... Hopefully the replacement module will fix the issue...

Cheers,
Tim

Na hasn't rained here for a while... Just seemed to stop...

I don't know why anyone would own one of these after looking into them... They'd be fine while they ran... But if they play up... It's like every ute built is it's own model... Right royal PITA...

Cheers,
Tim

I guess I'm biased, but the XH is far superior - EB/EL based, SLALS front suspension, rack & pinion steering, etc. EF BEM is above accelerator pedal, easy to access.

Yep, manual says dash pull to get to it - extend the wires and fit it inside the glovebox. Also only shows the plug pinouts in the manual.
Correct me if I'm wrong - smartlock only affects injector enable and starter motor, there should be still spark.

The TFI-SIM testers I made were based on the Ford unit which is no longer available... So on my car (the ED) I disconnected the "enable" wire from the smartlock to the EEC-V and the Spout LED on the tester wouldn't light up. Indicating the computer wasn't sending the spark out pulse... It will still crank with the enable wire broken...

Whereas if the module doesn't operate that relay (the one that sticks) then it wont crank... But not sure what else causes it to not crank...

Don't know snap, but smartlock is a weird system... Appears complicated, but is easy to steal a car with it...

You wouldn't wanna share just the page with the plug pin outs would you? pwwwease?

Cheers,
Tim
