Gday people,
i have just bought an XE as a project car and im just wondering whether or not the diff out of an ef or el will go in easily? i have one here with 3.45 ratio and L.S.D so i would like to use it if possible! if it will, does anybody know what type of modifications need to be carried out? it is a coil spring rear end so i think that will make it easier? many thanks in advance!

Everything should bolt in perfectly bar the lower control arms.
EB2 onwards had a wider bush at either end I believe. At least on the diff end. Same control arms, just the bush is different. Could take an arm and use the right bushes on the right ends to make it all work. Only fun then will be the brake and handbrake setup and tailshaft. But I'm sure that would be easy to get around with a little thought. A few guys here have put EL diffs into XF's. |

Also hydraulic brake lines go from Metric to Imperial.

XF and EA diffs will fit straight in, no mods required.

EB Series I diffs (pre 6/92) should bolt straight in. Brake lines on EF/EL is different, as is the handbrake stuff. On EA/B/D the handbrake should bolt straight in (may need the E Series handbrake cable). The Imperial to Metric adapter you might need at the diff (body to diff line) can be gotten from ABS Brakes for under $10. The tailshaft needs to come from the donor car of the same type (i.e Sedan for Sedan, LWB for LWB) as after EB 1 ford changed the tail shaft flange, and the length.
I have a DC 91 Diff in my XF. But I also custom did fuel/brake lines to suit the DC engine so it all looks factory |
