I've got an electric antenna out of an EF and the BCM out of the same vehicle (94DA 14K144 BA - GREEN). I want to set it up so the antenna extends and retracts by itself.

I was wondering what the possibilities are of swapping out the current BCM for This one. If not otherwise I'll just wire up the second BCM using just the wires required for the antenna.

Cheers

Check out the X series Tech docs, and also the Power Antenna tech doco as well.

Amazing what you find when you look hard enough.

Not that I've read the tech docs...

But what you're trying to do with the genuine antenna and BEM is way too hard... Just get a std aftermarket one that fits and run a power wire and trigger wire across from the head unit and be done with it...

Not worth trying to add a BEM in parallel just to make it drive an antenna...

Cheers,
Tim

. . . . . the Antenna tech doco covers aftermarket masts, and also shows how to operate a factory unit without the BEM.

I've got a genuine one atm, and I'd prefer to run it through the BCM for the automatic function, as I'm lazy haha. Also I'm adding a few mods to the car which will eventually involve the high series BCM. Now that I've got time off uni im considering putting the DL/DF dash into the ute. Do you think compliance-wise I should not worry about the passenger airbag when I do it or is there someone who would know about this kind of stuff?

thanks for the input.

Doesn't a xh have an xg and earlier style dash? The df or dl dash wouldn't physically fit I wouldn't have thought...

If it isn't complianced for air bags you can't run them... A lot of xh utes didn't even have a driver one... To be able run air bags everything around them needs to work in conjunction including body, seats and seatbelts... If you just add an air bag you could kill someone with it...

I run an fg steering wheel with the the air bag removed for both safety and legislation reasons...

Cheers,
Tim

XH's had a drivers airbag as optional, so the design implications are covered - even the factory bullbar was airbag compatible. Provided you fit the components in their factory location and orientation, shouldn't be an issue. The airbag module and crash sensors use those green bolts.

The EF/EL dash has been done a few times now - xf84 is the most recent IIRC.

yeah, I've already installed the driver's airbag using the genuine ford workshop manual. just wondering about the passenger airbag. do you know if xf84 disconnected the passenger airbag? I don't really see it as an issue as the driver airbag wouldn't be an option either. Might have to talk to a few people in the industry.

PAB should be okay - the passenger seat position will vary due to the fore/aft adjuster, so seat position isn't totally critical, and the lid should flip upwards as the bag comes out.

Yeah, check out xf84's build thread - you may as well add the high series addons, climate, trip computer, instrument lighting dimming, etc.
