Just wonder if it is possible to strip down an efi motor and put the carby manifold on it and run it as a carby engine
Reason for this is i cant be bothered doing all the EFI stuff and the motor is only 18 months from a reco |

yup, that's all you'll have to do, although you may want to be careful with the fuel pressure from the EFI system into the carby

yeh second the fuel pressure comment, you would need to get the carby pickup and remove the efi intank fuel pump,, not sure if an efi has the pump on the block aswell ?? if not get it, and you would probably have to do some small plumbing to get the fuel lines in the right positions,, hookup a couple of vacuum connections, and drive away....
shouldnt be too hard,, would be nice to have 2 side by side to compare too... -mitch

not critical to put the entire carby fuel pump setup in, just make sure the fuel pressure isnt forcing fuel into the float bowl
stock EFI's cant have a carby fuel pump fitted unless you get a new cam..... the carby engines dont have the eccentric on the camshaft for the fuel pump all aftermarket cams have the eccentric, so it's all good

a mechanical fuel pump would never be abel to give enough fuel pressure for a efi system anyway,
i cant see why u would go from efi to carbie, efi is really simple and so much better. |

IMO as long as it's running 100% perfect, it's great, but as soon as one single fault occurs, it isnt wrth s**t what i meant about the fuel pump is that if you've got a 100% original EFI engine that you want to convert to carby, the camshaft wont have the fuel pump eccentric on it

u can run an "efi" fuell pump (which should be electric!!) on carby! all you do is put a plate over the hole in the block from the other pump... thats if u are using the other pump but i presume they came out with an electric... if you want to put an electric pump on then all you need to do is up the air and it will give you a heap more power, but why would u want to go to carby? more fuel cunsuption and less power, spend 1000 on a cam and chip and u will get like 50KW ou t of ur efi!!

if you arent carefull with the pressures when using an electric pump, you run the risk of forcing fuel into the float bowl past the needle, and thereby flooding the engine with fuel

yeah, tru but there should be a regulator for the fuel pump which should slow things down, and i dont think they are dif n e ways.. might be wrong just a thaught
