i have an xf ghia wagon (suposedly 1 of 227 made in a wagon) which needs an engine rebuild, but i want to go all out on it as i've had this car 8 years now and it has become a part of the family. i will be doing all the work, also have a t5 conversion for it to go in at the same time. the other half will not allow me to put in a 4.0 i6 as the numbers all match and as stated is sort of rare.
but i have another efi 4.1 to go in as a temperary donk while i rebuild my engine. my thoughts are if a 4.0 i6 can go in a x-series falcon with a carby manifold from a 4.1 bolted on, can you do the reversal, (with help from an auto elec friend), bolt up an el bbm and ecu and get it running?
has this been done before, or am i dreaming an impossible dream? i have all the parts available to go ahead with this but need to know if it is a realistc idea.
